Dutch crown princess to train as military reservist

After completing her bachelor’s degree in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics (PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), crown princess Amalia will start a bachelor’s degree in Dutch Law, also at the UvA. In addition, she will follow a working student program at Defense for the next two academic years, training to become a military reservist.

The princess will follow the training program at Defensity College. She has applied and been admitted. The goal of Defensity College is to offer students part-time jobs with content during their studies and to increase the visibility and connection between the armed forces and society, according to the government information service RVD.

The RVD also reported that Amalia cannot immediately participate in all physical components of the training due to the recent fracture in her arm. She will start with these after recovery. In early June, the princess fell from her horse and broke her arm.

During an interview with the press on Tuesday, Amalia also shared the subject of her graduation thesis. It is on “AI deepfakes in relation to European law,” she said.
