Abhishek Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy set to steal crown from top stars after meteoric rise in ICC T20I Rankings

India National Cricket Team batter Abhishek Sharma has made a massive rise in the ICC Rankings in the T20I format. The opening batter has become the new No.2 ranked batter in the rankings after his heroics with the bat in the series against the England National Cricket Team.

Abhishek Sharma was at his brutal best in the T20I series against the England National Cricket Team. Opening the innings, he batted with no fear and smashed the opposition bowlers all over the park in the entire five-match T20I series between the teams.

Abhishek Sharma started the T20I series on a high as he played a whirlwind innings of 79 runs in the first game. After that, he gave a decent start to the India National Cricket Team in the next three games before bringing his best with the bat in the match, which took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Abhishek Sharma slammed his second century of the T20I career and helped his team win the game. They ended with an innings of 135 runs off just 54 balls and, in the process, slammed the second fastest half-century (17 balls) by an Indian in the format, along with the second fastest century (37 balls) by an Indian in T20Is.

Thanks to his heroics with the bat, Abhishek Sharma made a massive rise as he jumped 38 places on the T20I rankings to take the No.2 spot. He is now behind the Australia National Cricket Team batter Travis Head, who is at the top of the charts.

In terms of bowling, it was Varun Chakravarthy, who made a massive rise. The mystery spinner became the No.2 ranked bowler in the T20I rankings after his impressive effort with the ball. He picked 14 wickets in the series against England, which was the most by any Indian bowler in a T20I series.

Varun Chakravarthy, who won the Player of the Series award against England, moved up three places to equal the second spot in the ICC rankings for bowlers in T20Is. He looked unplayable as he provided his team with the crucial breakthroughs in the entire five-match series.
