A 44-year-old man from Lelystad died in a collision with a hearse and another passenger car in the Noord-Brabant village of Oosteind on Tuesday night. The hearse was carrying a body at the time, the police confirmed.
The accident happened at around 10:30 p.m. The three vehicles were driving on Heistraat when the hearse and one of the passenger cars collided head-on at a traffic island.

Police, ambulances, and a trauma team by helicopter were deployed. First responders stabilized the Lelystad man at the scene and rushed him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He drove the car that crashed head-on into the hearse.
The Lelystad man’s two passengers were injured. Paramedics took them to a hospital. The driver and passenger from the hearse also required hospital treatment. The occupants of the third car were unharmed.
The police are investigating what happened.
